Scarce true first edition of what is known as "Lenin For Beginners" in the US. Pre-dates aforementioned English-language book. Rius, or Eduardo del Río (1934-2017), was a renowned Mexican intellectual, political cartoonist, and writer best known for his comic strips and books which use humor and satire to comment on political, religious, and social issues. Rius's work was characterized by its sharp wit, its accessible and engaging style, and its commitment to social justice. His comics and books covered a wide range of topics, from Mexican history and culture to critiques of capitalism and the Catholic Church. Perhaps his most famous work is "Los Supermachos," a comic strip that satirized Mexican politics. Rius is also known for "Marx for Beginners," a comic book introduction to the ideas of Karl Marx, which has been translated into numerous languages and has been influential in making complex political and philosophical ideas accessible to a wide audience. Throughout his career, Rius used his art to challenge power, to educate, and to provoke thought and discussion. His work continues to be read and appreciated for its humor, its insight, and its commitment to social and political critique" —aBookBot
