About Us

A bibliophile since childhood, Michael Calvello worked in secondhand, antiquarian and specialty bookshops in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s and 1990s, including Bolerium Books, Libros Latinos, Maelstrom Books, and Diluvian Books. With Alan Green, he co-founded Bibliopolis.com, and helped develop and market the popular BookHound cataloging software. He is a passionate book collector and reader, and holds a Master's of Library & Information Science with emphases in the History of the Book, Bibliography, and Manuscript Traditions from the University of Texas at Austin. Michael owned Owl & Company Bookshop in Oakland for several years.
